Kuala Lumpur

Ok so I have been in Kuala Lumpur for 2 days now, I have no excuse for not writing and keeping you all updated on how I am going!

I flew Air Asia good old budget airline, but to be honest by the time you purchase all the add-ons like a meal, a blanket, entertainment I think I ended up with an extra $50 in my pocket compared to purchasing a ticket with Malaysian Air. I was lucky enough to get 2 seats to myself so I was able to stretch out a little which made the trip super easy! My trip in point form;

  • Get seated
  • Fell asleep before we were in the air
  • Was woken by the air hostess offering me my purchased blanked
  • Fell asleep again
  • Woken with my purchased meal placed in front of me, Indian butter chicken with rice
  • Fell asleep again
  • Woken with my entertainment kit
  • Watched a movie
  • Sleep 1hr
  • Watched another movie
  • Attempted to play some mystery game but I'm just not a games person unfortunately
  • Started another movie but didn't get to watch it all as we started our decent
  • Land!

What a way to travel! Once we arrived into Kuala Lumpur there was a massive storm so we had to sit on the airplane for another 20min to wait for the rain to subside a little, we were all given umbrellas when leaving the plane as we had to walk along the tar matt before entering the airport. The airport is not that hectic these days as you now purchase your taxi ticket at a taxi booth, a few years back you use to get people rushing to you yelling "lady, lady hello taxi" and you would have to barter with them as they would never use their taxi meters.

I arrived at the tournament hotel where I was meeting Line Hansen, but when approaching the reception there was no booking under Camilleri or Hansen. There was some confusment with us receiving 2 different emails in the past 3 weeks that had 2 different tournament hotels and Line was at the SRI Petarling and I was at the Pearl International Hotel.  But all is good we sorted things out!

I had a good hit today to get the body moving and to get over that awful travel heaviness, its always tough during the first session after a long trip, the body is all stiff and tired.

Kuala Lumpur is a nice and interesting place (interesting because it is just culturally so different). The squash club at the National Sports Complex is so nice and spacious, 10 glass backs and an all glass court with a stadium surrounding it.

I am currently in my hotel room with my laptop relaxing a bit before we go and see what there is around for dinner. There is currently another massive storm out side and its putting on a great lightning and thunder show for us. It's quite warm and muggy out so its nice sitting in the hotel room enjoying the air conditioner.

As for the tournament, I'm getting excited! Especially after training today :) It's been a while and I just can't wait to get out there again. Competing in tournaments is the reason I train 25+ hrs a week, go to bed exhausted, nap, eat healthy etc etc…its all for THIS! What I love.…pure enjoyment…well and pain…but mixed together it's pretty good!

Ok so update 1 from KL…Stay posted on how I go, I have my first match on Tuesday afternoon so wish me good luck everyone!
