Two sets to love down, and barely able to breathe, Australia’s Lisa Camilleri has clawed her way back to win the Mackay Open 2013, her third Australian title in a row.

The win capped off an incredible last quarter of 2013 for the 30-year-old Queenslander, who spent six months away from the game battling injury, and has Read more...

The year has come to an end. Another year has gone by and I must admit what a year it has been with so many ups and downs.

The year definitely didn’t go the way I had planned with a lot of things that went wrong but over all it was very successful and what a great finish. :)

Starting from the beginning.  My first tournament of the year and the start of my comeback was the Australia Day Challenge played at Northern Suburbs in Brisbane this event was a WSA tour 5 event.  At this stage I only ha Read more...

In the midst of the last tour of the year, its been a tough few weeks with Penang, Macau, QLD Open, Caboolture Open and one more to go Mackay Open next weekend.

I had another great result this weekend just gone, winning the Caboolture Open without dropping a game and playing really good squash.  I am feeling more confident (winning the QLD Open and Caboolture Open might have something to do with it.)  I am so happy with how my squash is progressing, it is so exciting and a great feeling to be back winning tournaments again.   You may all be aware that the l Read more...

As an athlete pushing your body to its limits, getting up out of bed day after day when all you want to do is sleep, rest and eat ice cream.

You have to tap into that inner determination and think why are you dragging yourself to another pressure session or strength session. Many people say that being an athlete you need to be a very dark and intense person. For all those that know me I am very much the opposite I’d say I am very relaxed, happy go lucky and don’t enjoy dissrupting the apple cart.Read more...

I arrived into Penang on the 5th, the flight was pretty good I had a stop over in lovely Singapore. Singapore Air port is my best airport, with so much shopping, food and things to see and do to kill time during the long hours of stop over’s.

I’ve been on the island for 3 days and have fully adopted my self-absorbed preparation mode. The training/preparation routine: Eat, sleep, train, stretch & repeat in any order.

So far it’s all been smooth sailing apart from having to move rooms yesterday. I had been woken up the first 2 nights aroun Read more...

Hi Everyone,

Hmmm…Where to start? What’s been going on with me? Well since NSW Open and my rolled foot injury, I haven’t felt like there was anything exciting to write about. When all your plans get thrown out the window, uncertainty makes it hard to plan anything, and as someone who loves a well thought out plan, I found myself a bit lost and frustrated for a few weeks.  I’ve slowly gone about my business, trying to be patient (patient being the key word).

After a few week Read more...

I have had a tough week this week.  As most of you may know I rolled my ankle during my Semifinal match in Sydney last week.  I've been seeing my physiotherapist every day this week trying to get it in some sort of working condition for this weekend.  But Squash is just too brutal on the feet and joints to go ahead with the North Coast Open this weekend.  I was able to reduce a lot of the swelling but I had a little hit on it yesterday and changing direction, lunging out on my ankle just wasn't good.  So I've made the decision to pull out take the medical zero and just think a head Read more...

Sorry for a little lack of blogging recently but I've just been bum up and head down preparing for a few events to be held in South Australia as well as a few exciting life events like moving house and my brothers wedding. I wasn't neglecting my blog on purpose. I am ticking along and enjoying life! So I guess we have a lot to catch up on!

First off, I am currently in Tanundra. I arrived here today flying from Brisbane and catching a lift from Adelaide to the most famous wine region in Australia, Barossa Valley. Its going to be hard to keep myself away from wine tasting and st Read more...

It’s been a little while since I have posted a blog but I have been real busy the past 3 weeks with training, coaching and life. I always have spare time when I am away from home as there is a lot of down time in between matches and preparation for the event.

I am back in Kuala Lumpur getting ready to play in an International WSA event that starts tomorrow. It was only a month ago that I was here competing and getting back in the swing of playing in international events again. I know my fitness is still n Read more...

Squash has taken me to many places all over the world and I have memories that will last a lifetime.  I discovered a love for Squash at a very young age but traveling overseas was at first very daunting for me as I was a very shy introverted girl from a very small country town called Tully in QLD Australia.

Since I was eighteen years old I have been competing internationally at various tournaments and it has allowed me to meet such amazing people, experience different cultures and come across incredible opportunities.   I can say Squash has def Read more...

Yesterday afternoon became the end of my first international tour back since injury.

It has been a fun, exciting and interesting experience being away in Kuala Lumpur for the past 3 weeks. I had no expectations really. Being out of the game for so long I’m still finding my feet and going to keep persistent until it finally all clicks. I am pleased to say I only got better and better while I have been away.

The first Tournament has completed unfortunately I lost in the Semi Final against up and coming Rachel Arnold from Malaysia.  I felt I didn't play very well on the day but this being only my 2nd tournament back it is still very hard to know how I am going to react day in day out.  I felt the body was very tight and stiff on the Semi final day, I also was receiving a bit of pain in my ankle joint as it seems that when I am competing for a few days in arrow it builds up to the point where it starts to ache and making it difficult for me to move quickly off the mark.

Ok so I have been in Kuala Lumpur for 2 days now, I have no excuse for not writing and keeping you all updated on how I am going!

I flew Air Asia good old budget airline, but to be honest by the time you purchase all the add-ons like a meal, a blanket, entertainment I think I ended up with an extra $50 in my pocket compared to purchasing a ticket with Malaysian Air. I was lucky enough to get 2 seats to myself so I was able to stretch out a little which made the trip super easy! My trip in point form;

Today is my birthday.

I wanted to write a big, long post about how fabulous today is and pat myself on the back for being born but I just wasn't really feeling it. I normally get excited for my birthday as it's "Your" day and I always feel special and enjoy all the happy birthday wishes from everyone on my birthday. But this year it's the big three zero and I don't think there is any need for all the f Read more...
