South Australians had a great "Individuals" campaign at this year's Australian Junior Championships, held in Perth.  Alex Haydon won the U/15 Girls event, defeating fellow South Aussie, Lauren McInerney 11-6, 11-5, 11-5.  I won the U/17 Boys, beating Todd Riches of NSW, 11-8, 11-6, 11-5 in a tough final that lasted 45 minutes.  The final score didn't really reflect the closeness of the match which had some very long rallies.  Lauren Aspinall won the U/17 Girls championship after a hard- Read more...

Wearing the “Green and Gold” gives you strength

If there is one thing I wish for my children to experience in their lifetime it would be to represent their country at the Commonwealth Games.

It is something I have worked towards my whole life.  From when I was 8 I just wanted to go to the Commonwealth Games. These are the pinnacle events in any Australian kid’s life and it makes me hugely proud to look in the mirror and see the “Green and Gold”.

altI’m writing this blog from Tonbridge, UK where I am spending a week with Marcus’s sister’s family in-between tournaments.

I left Dublin, Ireland on Sunday the 27th of April, where I had a disappointing first round loss. I’ve been having difficulty writing this blog because it’s difficult to be positive and upbeat particularly when you get knocked out during the first round of an e Read more...

I can’t remember the last time I was in a Premier League Final ... matter of fact, I don’t think I’ve ever been in one. Tuesday the 25th of March was a very exciting night with my team Northern Suburbs Squash Centre (NSSC) becoming the Northside Summer 2013/2014 Premier League Champions.

It was a big night for everyone involved. I was fortunate to have gotten back from Penang just in time for the finals. We played the final against Stafford 1. The individual match ups were:

I have so much to tell you! My life is so busy at the moment with the WSA season in full swing, pennant grand finals (more to come on Grand finals in my next blog), coaching, promoting Club2Athlete and life in general!

I have just been to the Women’s World Championships in Penang! WOW what a great experience it was. My first healthy world champs since the 2009 event in Amsterdam.

Traveling to Penang was relatively easy considering its only a short 8 hour journey from Australia. I was lucky to have 3 seats to myself over and back so Read more...

This past week has been an incredible experience, and a ton of fun.

The SA Graded Championships were held on the 14th & 15th of March at the Ingle Farm Squash Club.  A field of 43 players of all levels, from beginners to Premier League players, including SA professional, Mike Corren, competed in 5 Divisions.

I competed in Div 1 and had my best win ever, by defeating Karadinga Premier League player, Patrick Stevens, in 5 games.  Patrick's matrix score is approximately 30 points higher than mine and it was, by far, the toughest match I've ever played in with both of us having to dig deep and call on energy reserves that we didn't know exist Read more...

Sunday was the final day of the Malaysian Tour Squash Circuit No.1 and unfortunately I was not in the final.

This tournament has been a little disappointing for me performance wise loosing to Eun Chan Ahn from Korea in the quarterfinals. Eun and I have played each other 3 times in the past 3 months. I had beaten Eun the past 3 times we played but I take my hat off to her as she played really well. I had a chat with Eun after our match and she has had a lot of changes in her squash recently moving to Malaysia with a huge advantage training on these courts in advan Read more...

I just played in the Windy City Open in Chicago.  The last time I was here was in 2010, and it's great to see the event back on the WSA calendar.

The women started playing in Cathedral Hall today, an absolutely beautiful room in the University Club.  I got to do a little commentary which is always hilarious.
